| Irish Examiner ^ One would hope that common sense would prevail in perilous times, but that's not the case since political correctness reared its ugly head. It's my belief that P.C. advocates are basically cowards who fear that those offended will resort to lawsuits or violence. What other explanation can explain how Major Nidal Malik Hasan didn't raise the "potential terrorist" antennae of the authorities at Fort Hood, the most populous U.S. military base in the world? According to statements by his colleagues, Maj. Hasan, a 39-year-old U.S. Army psychiatrist, was very vocal about his opposition to the war and his feeling that... |

Who cares? Defense lawyer says accused Fort Hood shooter could be paralyzed from waist down ANGELA K. BROWN Associated Press Writer 9:58 a.m. CST, November 13, 2009 FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) — The Army psychiatrist accused in the fatal shootings at Fort Hood may be paralyzed from the waist down after being shot multiple times during the attack, his attorney told The Associated Press on Friday. Civilian attorney John Galligan said Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan told him that he had no feeling in his legs and extreme pain in his hands. Hasan, who was shot four times by civilian police officers, said doctors told him the condition may never improve. Galligan said he spoke with Hasan for about an hour in the intensive care unit at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio on Thursday, the same day Hasan was charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder. | www.foxnews.com ^ The Justice Department and President Obama are not calling the murders an act of terror. Why? A) Obama doesn’t want to admit an act of terror occurred on his watch. B) Just like he renamed the "War on Terror" an "overseas contingency operation," Obama has his own definition of terror. C) Obama is afraid the label "act of terror" will enflame the Muslim world. D) Both A and B E) A, B and C F) Obama is right to wait for federal agencies to complete their investigations. |

Lawmakers Seek to Award Casualty Benefits to Fort Hood Victims by FOXNews.com Republican Rep. John Carter plans to introduce legislation Tuesday that would grant the victims of the Fort Hood massacre the same legal status as combatant casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan, a move that could intensify a debate over whether the incident should be deemed a terrorist attack. A Texas lawmaker is calling for the victims of the Fort Hood massacre to be legally recognized as combatant casualties, a distinction that could intensify a debate over whether the incident should be deemed a terrorist attack. Republican Rep. John Carter, who represents the Fort Hood area, plans to introduce the legislation Tuesday that would grant the 13 Army and civilian officers killed and 29 wounded the same legal status as combatant casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan. The status would allow military personnel to receive the Purple Heart and civilians to receive the civilian equivalent award, the Secretary of Defense Medal of Freedom. The status would also provide the maximum life insurance benefit available, among other benefits, to the beneficiaries of all the military officers who were killed in the attack. "They were basically taken out early in the combat," he said. "They should have a Purple Heart." More |

| Rasmussen Reports ^ Sixty-three percent (63%) of U.S. voters say political correctness prevented the military from responding to warning signs from Major Nidal Malik Hasan that could have prevented the Fort Hood shootings from taking place. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that just 16% disagree and do not believe political correctness kept military authorities from possibly stopping the killing of 13 people and the wounding of many others in the November 5 incident. Twenty-one percent (21%) are not sure. Voters also have very mixed feelings about how President Obama and the Army responded to the Fort Hood incident. Older Americans...
